Romano/Carotenuto Torre del Greco, Naples Italy

Postby njdolfan » 07 Dec 2008, 18:58

I am looking for any information on my grandfather's family in Italy, Torre del Greco section of Naples. His mother's maiden name was Romano. His name was Antonio Carotenuto and he had 2 sisters that I can remember, Julia and Rosa. I know he had more one of which married a man with the last name of DeLuca also of Naples. They had,I think 5children. One became a nun, one was Archbishop Domenico Deluca and I believe they had 2 or 3 more sons.

I traveled to Naples in 1971-1972 and lived with my father's cousin, the Archbishop along with my grandfather and his sister for about 2 months. I was able to meet my 2 great aunts and my father's cousins and their children.

If anyone can help in getting my tree started I would gladly appreciate this.

You can use the following site to find addresses for the surname of interest:
www.paginebianche.it
For records you would need to send to the comune and make request for birth, marriage and death records.
To find the address of the comune, use the following site:
http://www.servizidemografici.interno.i ... ascript=si

I am assuming you know Italian?

Have you completed all US records on your family?

There is also microfilmed records, however they are limited:

1. You go to www.familysearch.org

2. Click on the tab on the top right called Library

3. Click on the words Family History Library Catalog

4. Click on the words Place Search and type in the town you are looking for. Then click the word search.

I am looking for any information on my great grandparents Ralph and Caterina Ascione. They had 4 children: Peter, Luigi, Francesco and Grace. Francesco and Luigi came to the United States, Peter (Pasquale) and Grace did not. They came from a town called Torre del Grecco/Campania Region/Italy.

If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
