Grandfather Romano's town of birth

Postby Romano1970 » 12 Dec 2008, 21:05

Hey I wanted to get an opinion on something.

All of the information that has been provided to me thru this site all say that he was from/Born in Piazza Armerina Sicilia. However one of the docs which I have attached asks the question Where were you born, the reply shows as Castelmaria, now the only thing I see that is remotely close to that is CASTELLAMMARE SICILY. Do you think this could possibly be a reference to the province ( county so to speak of) Catanissetta?

I was just curious because when the time comes for me to order the films I want to make sure I have the right comune.

Wow Michael,

Those are some pretty large images! Any chance you could resize them and repost them so that they are easier to read? If you need help, just ask .

Hello Suanj, Hello Nuccia.

Suanj, I noticed that per what you found. (Copied Below)Gewasim Villa Piazza. Where exactly is that in Sicily? How do I confirm that as his birth place.? Which Document did you find the birth town on?

Hello, Michael

The place of birth above is just a horrible transcription. His birthplace was Piazza Armerina--See line 28, last column on the second page of his Boston manifest which was posted previously.

Hi Biff, Hope you are well. I still do believe it is Piazza Armerina. I just thought possibly peter and Suanj found some new information for me to look up.

I have already sent a letter to Piazza Armerina to inquire on his birth records.

Hopefully my trip to Passaic NJ on friday of this week will bring to light some usefull information that I can use in my research.

I will be retreiving the following.

Mother and Fathers marriage cert
Fathers Birth cert
Possibly my Grandfathers death cert. Will this provide any confiming information about italy??
