My granfathers papers are in a church, What to do?

Postby peschiera » 17 Dec 2008, 02:01

Hello and thank you so much for the help

Iam looking for the certidicate of baptism and hopefully the marriage certificate of Domenico Peschiera Mangiante 1831 -1890
Born in "Santa Maria di Ne" Diosesis de chiavari.

So I don't know if I should send a letter with some money to get the certificates or where to send the letter to. How much money to send what type of letter to write. etc. what are my chances in getting all the information. What other steps do I need to do to get my dual citizenship

Thank you so much for your help

Santa maria di Negrar is a "frazione" (absorbed by Negrar and made neighborhood ) The postal code is 3702w inthe province of Verona, Veneto region. There are 8 churches in Negrar. www.parrocchie.it for their names but only one has a telephone indicating the church with a resident priest.

You can write a form letter to the Diocese at www.chiesacattolica.it/cci_new/diocesi/chiavari.html and use the form letter in italian language found at the following website.

Dear Suanj thank you so very much for pointing ouit that NE is the name of the town instead of Negrar. I depended upon NE coming up easily. It is my error and I apologize to everybody concerned. =Peter=

My great-great Aunt Maria Zignago was married to a Giovanni Mangiante from Ne (near Chiavari) . Is this possibly a relative to your grandfather? Her dates are 1831-1906. They both lived and died in Ne but had 5 daughters two of whom came to Minnesota in 1877.
