Di Geronimo's from Santomenna in Argentina

Postby Natylopez » 27 Dec 2008, 12:50

Muchas gracias!!!

Well, to tell you the truth, I've searched both Google in Spanish and English and I've found nothing... I mean, I have found the Di Geronimos from NJ but I can't find their relation to my grandfather...

Thanks for the suggestion though :)

According to my grandmother his name is Francesco Di Geronimo and he must have been born between 1900 and 1910, in Santomenna, Salerno. His father was Felice Di Geronimo. I do not know when he left for the US.

You have enough information to write to his town of origin in Italy and obtain a copy of his bith record to trace his whereabouts (cemetary? social security etc). Go to www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/it ... tters.html

For address go to www.nonsolocap.it and put in Santomenna and then click on the name after it comes up fand look under Municipio for address of the Uffico di Stato Civile. Wait about 6-8 weeks and there is no charge. You can use the decade you mention as the birth year approximation and you might wish to include a tip, preferably in euros (about 2-3 or US $5.00) as a token tip since they have to research their records. =Peter=

I believe we are both searching for the same DiGeronimos. My husband, Michael DiGeronimo, is from Jersey City, NJ USA. His grandfather, Giuseppe, came to USA from Santomenna in 1901. His brother Felice arrived soon after and lived with him on Mercer St. in Jersey City. Felice then moved on to Argentina. I have identified the parents of Giuseppe and Felice from Giuseppe's daughter (my husband's aunt). This is what we know:
Francesco DiGeronimo, born in Santomenna Province of Salerno (circa 1850-65) married to Mariangiola Gatto, born in Santomenna/Salerno (circa 1850-65)

Giuseppe DiGeronimo (son of Francesco and Mariangiola DiGeronimo)
born in Santamenna/Salerno Italy on Oct. 27, 1884.
Emmigrated to USA 1901; naturalized between 1901 and 1920.
In order to obtain dual citizenship, my husband needs to track down the birth and death documents of Francesco and Mariangiola. If you find any further information, please do let us know.
Thank you,
Theresa DiGeronimo USA
