Help With Ancestors who immigrated to Utica, New York

Postby PYacco714 » 03 Jan 2009, 18:59

Hi Everyone:

I'm new to the site and looking for any information on the following families who eventually settled in Utica, New York. The family name is in capital letters and the area I believe they came from is in parenthesis:

Dominick and Frank YACCO/IACONO (Cassino or Caserta)
[parents: Antonio YACCO/IACONO and Antoinette NARDIANO]

Carmella SCHILINGO (Cosenza)
[parents: Pasquale SCHILINGO and Theresa LEONE]

Tomasso and Antonio CAPUANA (Aquino)

Tomassina and Assunta MASSARO (Piedimonte San Germano)

Any information that could help me locate respective birth certificates would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick!
Do you have all of your family's US census & military records?
Have you found everyone's ship manifest?
For birth records in Italy you'll need the exact town where they were born.
Your US records can provide valuable clues.
Thanks, Valarie

There was a wonderful travelling exhibit at the Boston Museum recently focusing on Italians in the Utica area. I will check family names with a friend from the area...if I find out anything, I will post it. Good luck in your search. :)

For reference, at the following site click on the Province/Provincia in which you are interested, then the Town name, and Search/Ricerca.
This will give you the exact address and name of the Ufficio Stato Civile
to which record request are directed regarding Birth, Marriage and Death.
