Hi and welcome to the forum,

Romano is a very common name and Calabria is a big place, a region of Italy not a town. Is there any other information you have that can help narrow things down.(name of his father and brother, year of immigration, naturalization date?)

Do you have any census info? Draft registrations? Names of children?
Any info you have will better help us direct your search.

Is this the correct family?

JAMES ROMANO 10 May 1903 Sep 1973 84074 (Tooele, Tooele, UT)
MILLIE C ROMANO 02 May 1909 Oct 1988 84074 (Tooele, Tooele, UT)
PAUL B ROMANO 20 Aug 1932 13 Dec 2002 (V) 84074 (Tooele, Tooele, UT)

By the way, the Italian for James might be either Giacomo or Vincenzo.

In the www.castlegarden.org website (which preceeded ellisisland) there is a listing for one GIACOMO (james) Romano and the only one out of 24 listed as MINER, aged 21 arriving on the Le Bretagne in 1892. =Peter=

yes that is the family and paul is the one who gave me the information i have James did not discuss his family from what i can find out and the only reason i even have the region of Calabria is it is in the cemetary records as place of birth so i don't have much info to work with i feel like this family needs to be found yet am not able to get anywhere with it after trying for the last 17 years it is frustrating to me that so little is known by his own children and grandchildren about him and his family thanks for the other names to try to help in the search with his birth year being 1903 i am guessing he came over around 1916 if he was indeed 13 when he arrived in the U.S.

Here is a manifest for a Vincenzo Romano 10 yrs old, travelling with father Nicola, mother Domenica, and brother Bruno. It is not too clear, but it is worth a look.
