Lamantia Family - Chicago South Side and Termini, Italy

Postby Seriously77 » 22 Jan 2009, 17:29

Hi! I am new to geneaology and am looking for information. I am also willing to share any information that I find with those who seek it. :D

Lamantia is my grandmother's maiden name and she grew up on the south side of Chicago. Her father, Fred Lamantia, had an office in the Southwater market in Chicago and he sold produce there. Fred (DOB unknown at the moment) and his brother Philip (born 1886) were born in Termini, Italy. That is where I am in my search. I am hoping to find information on Fred and Philip's siblings (if there were any) and parents so that I can continue with my search.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Michelle

Hello Michelle! Welcome to the forum.

There is a lady who hosts quite an impressive genealogy website dedicated to Termini. She has Vital Record extractions (Birth, Marriage & Death) for quite a span of years. Unfortunately she does charge for access to her database (she wishes to be at least partially compensated for her efforts, and the cost to host the site.) but it might be worth it for you to contact her and give her what information you have. She might do a lookup at least.

Here is the link:

Termini Imerese . org

Best of luck to you!!

Jim

Dear Michelle another ready reference is to go to to google.com and put in the title 'La Mantia Chicago Illinois Genealogy' for any previous or ongoing research of the family genealogy or tree. =Peter=
