pacetti - digiulio family

Postby marsal » 01 Feb 2009, 00:42

I am researching my family and am trying to find any information on my grandmother

Filomena Pacetti born 1871 in Roccacasale
married Aristodemo DiGiulio approx 1899, had a son Paul in 1900 and immigrated to the US in 1904. She died in 1907, but we can not find a record of her death or where she is buried. Family lore has it that she may have been taken back to Italy for burial. If anyone can help, I would be very greatful.

Hi Marsal and welcome!

From the Ellisisland.org site I found that Filomena Pacetti arrived in the U.S. on october 21, 1903 with her son Di Giulio Palameto? and her brother Nicola Pacetti. She was joining her husband Aristodemo Di Giulio in Rochester-NY..

Here is the link to the arrival manifest:

Have you tried to ask to Rochester-NY for her death certificate?

Here is the link to the Rochester city directory for the year 1907:

http://www.libraryweb.org/rochcitydir/i ... 07co-d.pdf

as you'll see, Digiulio Aristodemo (cabinetmaker) was living there on 13 canal house?
If Filomena died around 1907 sure her death certificate must be in Rochester municipality...
Hope this helps!

Perhpas not only lore??
I found an arrival manifest for Aristodemo Di Giulio coming back from Italy to U.S. on October 8, 1908.
He was Widower, and declared he was in the U.S. before (Rochester-NY), from 1899 to 1908, so it was possible he came back to Italy just to bury his wife?

However, if she died in Rochester there will be a death certificate there....

Laura

Thank you so much for your help.
I will try Monroe County records. I did try the library when we were there, but couldn't find any information. Hopefully the county will be more helpful.

You're very welcome!
I hope you'll be able to find the certificate... Sure it must be there...
