Luigi Zampella

Postby JoeC » 01 Feb 2009, 15:49

I'm trying to find some information about my great-grandfather, Luigi Zampella. I have the following information which I believe to be correct:

Birth: 26 Oct 1881, Italy
Immigrated to the United States on 17 Dec 1898, sailing on the ship Burgundia from Naples.
Death: 1 Jun 1959, Hoboken, New Jersey

Married Antonette (I don't know her maiden name or anything about her.) Not sure of marriage date. They had 5 children:
1) Louis Zampella b. 1910 in Hoboken, NJ d. 1927 in Hoboken, NJ
2) Anna Zampella b. 25 Oct 1912 in Hoboken, NJ d. 16 Nov 1996 in Hoboken, NJ
3) Henry Zampella b. 8 Dec 1914 in Hoboken, NJ d. 3 Jan 1990 in Point Pleasant, NJ
4) Eva Zampella b. 1 Oct 1916 in Hoboken, NJ d. 4 Jan 2005 in Hoboken, NJ
5) Anthony Zampella b. 15 Feb 1918 in Hoboken, NJ d. 9 Nov 2000 in NJ

Antonette passed away sometime after Anthony Zampella was born. Luigi remarried Mary Rubino, who had a daughter, Teresa, from a previous marriage. Teresa was born 20 Sep 1918 in Hoboken and died 25 Aug 1996 in New Jersey.

If possible, I'd like to find out the following information:
1) Name, birth, marriage, death and immigration information for Luigi's first wife, Antonette.
2) Marriage and immigration information for Luigi's second wife, Mary Rubino.
3) Cause of death for Luigi and Antonette's first son, Louis.

Thank you!
Joe

Hi Joe,

I noticed that on Luigi's WWI Military Enlistment he declared his wife Antoniette as nearest relative (the date on the document is September 12, 1918).
While the 1920 census shows him living with his new wife Mary and the latest daughter Terrie...
So you can be pretty sure that Antonietta died between September 12, 1918 and January 9, 1920 (date of the census), you may ask for her death certificate to Hoboken Vital records office...
Same for the death certificates for their first son Louis.

Hi Laura -

Thanks for the information. Can you tell me how I can get a copy of Luigi's WWI Military Enlistment?

Thanks -

Laura -

Thank you very much for sending me record. I've been debating whether or not to subscribe to Ancestry.com. Seems like there's a lot of information available...

Thanks again!
Joe
