Post by smarvin »

I'm just starting to look for my italian ancestry.
The information I have currently is :-

My Grandmother - Maria Di Cicco born in Bolton 1904
Her father - Antonio Di Cicco
Her mother - Michela Ceca

Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to IG!

Have you gathered any documents? Located ship manifest?
Know where in Italy the family originated from?

When you say "Bolton"......are you referring to the UK, Ontario or Massachusetts??

The DiCicco family is numerous in Valleluce and Sant'Elia Fiumerapido. Ceca is not common in those towns.

There are two of several wwesbites which you can consult for your family background. One is www.freeBMD.org.uk and www.findmypast.com whichis a paying website but free for name checks which may furnish additonal information. =Peter=

I have compiled a listing of all DiCicco and Cece births, marriages and deaths that occurred between the years of 1809 through 1899 from the commune of Sant'Elia Fiumerapido. You have Michela's surname listed as Ceca. Could her name be CECE? I'll do a search through my records for both Antonio DiCicco and Michela Cece and let you know if they are listed. I checked my files for Antonio DiCicco/Michela Ceca and did not find a connection. However there was an Antonio DiCicco (son of Alessandro DiCicco and Antonia Persechino) married to a Michela Polini (daughter of Francesco Polini and Maria Tomolillo). If you know the paternity for your Antonio and Michela, I can check by their names. The Sant'Elia records only go to 1899, so if Antonio married Michela after that date there would be no record to view. Is it possible that Michela's name could be Michelangela?
