Postby noff » 21 Feb 2009, 23:49

Anyone with information on the Gnoffo's and Colletti's in Chiusa Sclafani?
My grandmothers name was Domenica Colletti and My grandfathers name was Vincenzio Gnoffo. I found my grandmothers Ellis Island arrival but can't find my grandfathers he came before my grandmother I searched from 1900 -1920 and even earlier no luck.
I know my grandmother had 2 brothers and 2 sisters Antonio, Peppino, Maria and Rosalia Her mothers name was Rosario and I think her dads name was Salvatore still checking on that one.

My grandfather had a sister named M> Caterina a brother named Pietro abrother named Michele and a few more including a step-brother his mothers name was concetta and when she re-married it was Ragusa or Rodusta not sure.
Thaks in advance for help.

I have no records or papers on my grandfather but I believe that is him. It is the same birthday as my grandfather, he lived in chicago. I believe he was born in Chiusa Sclafani in the providence of Palermo.

My grandfather also had a brother Innocenzio.

I am new to all this (as you can prob tell) I will try to see if my aunt has any of the papers but I don't think she does.
Thank you.

thank you Misbris, I have seen that.

It shows that my grandfather arrived here in 1912 did he arrive through Ellis Island? Or through Canada?

Thank you, I tried many different spellings and never thought of spelling the last name that way. That is my grandfather. I see there are many Gnoffo's from that area near Chiusa I wonder if we can all be related. I noticed many settled in New York and Chicago.
I have to say it was exciting to see my grandparents name on the log and I wonder how the trip was for them. Thanks again : D
