Hi and welcome to the forum,

Town is Sala Consilina in the province of Salerno. Both Lopardo and Mele are common names in this town. Is there some specific information we can help you with?

thanks for the welcome. i'm new to forums so please bear with me. my great grandmother carolina mele came to us in july, 1906 from sala conilina. she lived in buenos aires at some point and i am trying to trace back her roots in italy. she was married to a lopardo but was a widow when she arrived in us. she was born in 1867. don,t know if anyone has info on these folks but would appreciate any help

She shows up on her 1906 entry at ellisisland, org. Records in Sala Consilina only go back to 1866 and you can request her birth record (estratto di nascita copia integrale for complete record) so that her parents identity will take you back to their names and their birthdates and thats about it. These records are also at Momon church microfilm records for Sala casalinia but are handwritten onmicorfilm in Italian and can be rented for about $5.00 at their library nearest your home.

Go to http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html for form letters in Italian and send to address Ufficio di Stato Civile shown in www.nonsolocap.it and put in Sala C.... and then click cerca and then click right onthe name itself and a webspage will come up with addresss under MUNICIPIO> =Peter=

I don't know if you have this manifest, but it is Carolina and her 3 sons going to a cousin in Brooklyn.
