Hi KMorey

Welcome to the forum. Can you let us know what type of information you're looking for? Census, marriage, ships manifests, USA records Italian records.

If you can provide as much detail as you know that will be a big help for forum members so we can assist you.

Date of birth for Joseph, same for Angelina (approximate years if possible).
Where were each born
Did they have children - if so where were they born, what year and names
What year were they married and what state or country were they married in?

Any details you can give will be helpful.

Thanks
Elizabeth

Hi and Thanks,

Joseph Francis was born 15 Mar 1890, in San Giuliano, Campobasso, Molise Region, Italy, I think. He Married Angelina Salvatore about 1914 in Ohio. I don't have any siblings for Joseph, the only census I found him on , he was alone.

Angelina was born in Brazil and arrived in the USA about 1909. I do have her parents as Frank(b . 18650)and Angela(b, 1867) Salvatore, Her siblings, were: Jennie, Victoria,Angelo, John, Tony,

I don't have any information on Joseph's parents or Frank and Angela's.

Thanks again,
Kathy

Hello Kathy!
If this is your Frank & Angela Maria Salvatore’s 1930 census, then these may also be their death certificates with the names of their parents.
Hope this helps,
Valarie

edit: added

The Di Niro maiden name for Angela Maria Salvatore does appear to match the 1909 manifest that you already have posted on your (owner: katmik1?) family pages on ancestry.

For everyone’s reference:
1909 manifest
page 2

Nov 1909, SS Duca di Genova , Napoli to NY
Lines 8-12

Ang Maria Di Niro 44 (abt 1865)
- last residence Campobasso, Cercepiccola
- in Cercepiccola, daughter Giovannina Salvatore
- destination Ohio Cleveland
- joining husband Gppe (?) Salvatore at Berlin Heights (Erie County??) Ohio
- born in Campobasso, S Giuliano (probably San Giuliano del Sannio)

Daughter Angelina Salvatore 14 (abt 1895)
Daughter Vittoria Salvatore 10 (abt 1899)
- has possible naturalization notation
Son Giovanni Salvatore 9 (abt 1900)
Son Nicolantonio Salvatore 7 (abt 1902)
- has possible naturalization notation

---

Can you list which manifests & census records you’re missing?

Thanks!
---

While waiting for Kathy :D

Best guess of missing records from the family pages on ancestry:

Frank Salvatore (b abt 1865)
- ship manifest
- 1910 family census (prob Cuyahoga County, OH)

Joseph Francis (b 15 Mar 1890)
- ship manifest
- 1900 census (?)
- 1920 census (prob Lorain or Cuyahoga County, OH)
(note: wife Angelina Salvatore appears to be listed with her family in 1920)

I'm happy to post any of the records that Kathy already has if needed for reference

Valerie,

thanks so much, I am sure it's the same Joseph and Angelina. It's so good to have some new names to work with!

Yikes Kathy :D !

I just added the transcription for the 1909 manifest.
I can't make out Frank's name on the manifest as the person they were joining. Could his first name have been Giuseppe - or am I just not reading it correctly?

We don’t want to spoil the hunt for you, so just tell us if you want us to stop looking while you work on your new names.

Example:
1910 census

Valerie,

I appreciate all your help! I was getting so frustrated. But with the information you sent, I have also, found some names of people I wasn't sure of....I have a great collection of my mom's and grandma's prayer cards and am not sure where they all fit in. Now at least, I know DiNero and Longo.

I also, have the name of Carmen Francis , who witnessed my mother's birth certificate, not sure where he fits in.

Thanks for your help,
Kathy

OK Kathy, we'll keep looking until you say enough (or we run out of ideas  )
Carmen Francis is a great lead! Where was your mother born?
Thanks! Valarie

Usually pretty reluctant doing this without something more concrete, but was Carmen’s wife also a witness?
From the same town in Italy
Is the signature close to what you have?

1942 WWII Draft Registration Card
Carmen Francis born 13 Mar 1884 in San Julian (Giuliano) del Sannio
Wife Angela Maria
2089 E 125th Cleveland

edit: added

1918 WWI Draft Registration Card
RD 2, Amherst, Lorain County, OH
Name transcribed by ancestry as Carmine Franzge
But wife is clearly Angela Francis
Quarryman

(this is abt the same location as Joseph Francis in 1910)

Actually, it’s the same address as Joseph Francis in 1917 :D

1917 WWI Draft Registration Card
(Kathy already had this)
Joseph Francis
RFD 2, Amherst, Lorain County, OH
born 15 Mar 1890 in San Giuliano (del Sannio) Campobasso (Molise)

Looks like her Aunt & Uncle (in more ways than one, I think)

Kathy, I think this is going to be my all time favorite record:

Carmine’s possible manifest

1909 manifest

page 2

26 Feb 1909 SS Re D’Italia Naples to NY
Lines 14-15
Carmine Franzese 24, abt 1884
- in Italy Father-in-law Frances Salvatore
- joining father in Cleveland (can’t make out the name)
Wife Angela Maria Salvatore 18, abt 1890

edit: added

Same manifest from ancestry. com

Interesting 1898 manifest lines 21-25

Located from information on Valarie's manifest find for Carmine which stated he was previously in US.

Biff :D
You found them both!
Fantastic!
Carmine's 1909 manifest indicated he'd been in Cleveland before.
(boy, you have great eyesight to figure out the year)
It's neat to see both of their names together.

This is so Cool! I remember now my mother saying she thought they had changed the name from Franceze, but wasn't sure how they spelled it.

Looks like Carmine and Giuseppe had a sister Angela (line 23) and another brother, Nicola??, the person they were joining who was married to Maria Di Niro, line 22. Their mother was Annamaria Gentile (line 21).
