WW2 Deaths

Post by Brummie »

This is my first post and I hope you can help me as I have very little information to go on:-

My Grandfather Carlo Irace was a solicitor in Bari before the war. My mother thinks he died in Africa (she said it was a big battle, El Alamein?) as he did not write to her anymore. This would have been 42-43 that he stopped communicating. I think he was an officer as I have a picture of him in uniform and the cap pin is one of an officer?

Would there be a listing of officers killed in WW2 in Africa?

Would there be a record of his being a solicitor?

I really only need to know if he died in the war.

I find Italian Genealogy very difficult unlike UK or USA where they have so much info online it makes your head spin :?

Thanks in advance.....

You may request a record of his being killed in action by writing to:

Commissariato Generale
Onoranze Caduti in Guerra
P. Le Luigi Sturzo 23
00144, Roma, Italy

Go to www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/saviello2.html for the form letter in Italian requesting military records of his death in Africa. Provide as much information as possible. =Peter=

Thank you Peter for the address. So I presume there are no online lists as with UK and USA?
