Pantaleone and Vadini might have been vidino

Postby ptimber » 29 Sep 2002, 14:59

There is currently one person surnamed Pantaloeone in Spoltore. Go to www.paginebianche.it and put in Pantaloeona in the first line and then try Vadini or Vidino and in the third line put in the name of the town and click cerca. When the name(s) come up with addresses and telephone numbers you might wish to write them in Italian or very simple english and ask if they are related to you including a self addressed envelope with a dollar for stamps. I am new to this site and just read your post. My great grandmother was Maria Pantaleone from Villa Santa Maria, Spoltore. Her son, my grandfather also immigrated to Steubenville, Ohio in 1920. Maybe there is a connection.

Hello

I wish to Thank all who have responded in one way or another to my post :D ... I do appreciate it..all the help :)

in 1913 Chiarina Vadini from Spoltore.. Yes this is my grandmother, aunt and uncle :) They are the only ones that I can confirm so far.

I only wish that I had started this while my parents were still alive.. I was too young to realise the importance of my background to me :(.....

again
Thank you all
Have A Happy

Hello All,
I am still trying to find any information on my grandfather Domenico Pantaleone. He was also called Dom.
He was from Spoltore Italy. He isn't showing up on Ellis Island or any Census records for Gary Indiana.
The ones that I do find just do not match

He was born around 1872 I think in Spoltore.
Came to America around 1907 from Spoltore, Italy I think, just not sure but since grandma Vadini's Last known residence was Spoltore, maybe his was also.
I know that he ended up in Gary Indiana where he died in 1927.
They may have also lived in The Villa Santa Maria.

I would like to thank you ahead of time. I know that you are all busy doing what you do. If there is no information, I will understand.

Have A Great Day :P

The 1907 manifest that suanj linked above is of interest... if I am not mistaken, the Domenicantonio Pantaleone listed is the only Pantaleone from Spoltore... ??

Pantaleone, "Domtonio" from Spoltore arrived 1907, age 38 Born 1869 passenger ID 101899050338

Hi Angie,

YOur grandfather, Domenico Pantaleone died in 1927 in Gary, IN. Do you have his death certificate? Have you been able to find an obiturary? These will give you clues to proceed further back. Would expect to find them in Gary on the 1920 census. Was your grandmother alive in 1930? Did she have children that would be living with her? Did she re-marry after her husband died?

The manifest Suanj posted with an arrival in 1913 is your grandmother. Correct. It states she is going to her husband Dom. Pantaleone in Gary IN and gives her place of birth in the last column. Looks like Cappelle, Italy. I am having trouble getting the place database here to work. Perhaps someone can confirm the name.
