Hello Beth!
It appears that Gaetano DiRenzo lived for some time in Westmoreland County, PA before he returned to Italy to marry Chiara Fini about 1925.
Does this sound correct?
Valarie

Hi Valerie,

Yes it does, apparently he was a stow away on a ship coming from Italy.

He was sent back, we could find the ship manifest for my grandmother but not him.

Thank you sooo much...

We do not have US records for either of them, not a lot of information besides pictures...

Beth, thank you so much for the update!

We'll all be happy to track down some US records for you.

I added my best guess at a transcription for your grandmother's manifest.
Not sure where in Chieti they were married...
Perhaps Villa Santa Maria since that is where her mother lived in 1925?

Beth, I'm so glad we could help!
And hello to your mom :D !
I wish we could find Gaetano's 1910 census and naturalization records.
It's hard to tell where he was since he started out heading for Chester.
Please let us know when/if you're interested in researching your family thru Italian records.
We can help direct you on how to do it.

Valarie,

Is there any way to get marriage certificates and names of siblings...trying to trace where his family went after Casalincontrada...

Thanks
Beth

Absolutely!
The key is knowing which town (comune) that the event took place.
All records are kept at the comune level.
Marriages were generally recorded in the bride's comune.
Best guess? Probably where her mother was living in 1925.
I’d start with their marriage record - it will contain their parents' names.
It only takes one confirmed record to lead you to other towns and other records!

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Villa Santa Maria
Corso Umberto 18
66047 Villa Santa Maria (CH)
ITALY
http://www.nonsolocap.it/abruzzo/68-villa-santa-maria/

Form letter generator, English to Italian:
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp

Website for finding comune addresses:

(just type in the name of the comune in the blank at the top, hit enter)
