Trying to find Dagostino/Pacitti

Postby clarajo2001 » 26 Apr 2009, 19:06

I'm trying to find details on the Dagostino/Pacitti family.

My great grandparents came over to England from Italy in the late 1880's/1890's.

My g grandma was called Maria Pacitti (Pacitto) & I've been told she came from Bari. she was born in about 1873.
My g granddad was called Pietro Dagostino & was born in about 1876 but I don't know where.

Can anyone help me to trace their marriage together with their births.

have you tried the 1901 english census? or www.findmypast.com for name checks only (its free) and www.worldvitalrecords.com also for name checks only (its free)

In Italy most records are inthe city, town or villag eof origin so better to concentrate on England and census years after 1900. UNLESS hyou can come up with the name of the place of origin. (Bari is provincial capital in Puglia region on SE coast of southern Italy.

Try www.paginebianche.it and put in D'agostino and later Pacitti inthe first line and BA (for entire Bari province) and click CERCA perhaps a town name will come up with either surname and trigger off your memory. =Peter=

I've found them in the 1901 & 1911 census in England, I'm just trying to find out more about their lives in Italy & their family there.

I'll take a look at the websites you've quoted.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

There is a large number of families in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland with D'agostino and Pacitti names.

They all come from Picinisco & Villa Latina in the Val di Comino check the site www.capaldi-clan.com to view several names from the area.

If you find that it is this area from which your ancestors emigrated to England, I can send you a list of all the Pacitti marriages in Villa Latina from 1833 to 1861. The list was painstakingly transcribed for me by Ann Fusco in Canada

There are several instances of Pacitti and D'Agostino marriages

A presto

Thanks Peter. I don't think their marriage will be on there as my g grandma wsn't born until c1873. All I know is she came to England when she was 21 in c1894.
