Giuseppe Amadio b. about 1876, Roma

Postby deanamadio » 21 May 2009, 20:51

Hello. Brand new to the board. I am looking for information on the family of Giuseppe Amadio, b. in or around Roma about 1876. His father was Eugenio Amadio, mother was Rosa Corradino. He was in the U.S. in the early 1900s living on Columbia St. in Brooklyn, NY. He married Grazia Pacelli in 1904 and they then lived on Harrison St. (now Kane I believe) in Brooklyn, NY. They had a child, Eugene Amadio (my grandfather). Giuseppe worked on the steamships, presumably between Italy and the U.S., at least some of the time as a firefighter. We believe he went back to Italy not long after my grandfather was born (and we don't really know what happened to Grazia). If you think you have any connections, let me know. Thanks.

Actually, it's mostly correct. Eugenia is actually Eugenio (though in the original document it does look like Eugenia). Also, the actual spelling is supposed to be Pacelli (again, in the original document it does say Pecilli). Also Adi is the wife of Joseph. Eugenio is actually the nephew of Joseph and Adi, and the son of Grazia (who is Joseph's sister) who is not listed in the 1910 Census (she was in the 1900 Census living with her parents and brother). Also, I believe that the Census of 1910 lists children who are living but not living with the family. My digital image is too unclear to read it, but this is what I recall (when I first obtained it in the late 1990s I deduced there were 3 total children of Giacoma and Francis (Francesco) from the document - and I was correct - I later learned Pasquale (Walter) was the 3rd child).

The naturalization record is correct, except there is a witness listed as well - Walter Pacelli from 34 Harrison St. (and who was a barber). This Giuseppe is my Giuseppe. Him, his wife Grazia, and Walter (Pasquale), and their parents were living at 34 Harrison St. in the 1905 NYS Census.

Do you know this family?
