Help with Cemetary Records?

Postby barbarasprufera » 26 May 2009, 13:40

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to track family through cemetary records? I am looking for Josephine Sprufera/Sprofera - maiden Italian name Guiseppa La Monte. I believe she died around 1934 in NYC and was probably buried with my Great Grandfather John (Giovanni) Sprufera / Sprofera in Calvary Cemetary in Queens NY.
Thank you for any help.

If you phone or email the office for that cemetary, they usually have maps of where everyone is buried - that is a service they offer visitors to find graves.

You might be able to get the date info here --- http://www.italiangen.org/NYCDEATH.STM . It is a database of NYC deaths. I would look it up for you, but unfortunately the database itself is blocked at my work computer :(
