Surname CAPORALE

Postby raymo » 06 Dec 2003, 05:36

Searching for historical information on my maternal gfather's surname & family.
CAPORALE, ANTONIO b1899, Acerra, Campania, emigrated to NYC <1920,d1979. Descendents of his brothers ANIELLO & VINCENZO may still be in Acerra.
My Ggmother was GIOVANNA PALUMBO of Naples, Ggfather VINCENZO.
Brother FRANCESCO emigrated to Holland, 1920s, I have found his daughter/her family in eastern France. Searching for other CAPORALE relatives worldwide. Need info on family especially between 1850-1880 to connect family tree branches.
Replies in English,Spanish,Italian,Portuguese,French welcome.

You seem to put me in the position of reinventing the wheel! Why not tell me what you have already researched so that I can possibly offer something you have not already checked out..Saves time and effort don't you think?? Peter

Hi Peter, most of the significant info I have found out already, I put in my original post. The sources I have used to date, familysearch.org, the US SocSec administration, Ellis Island records & Ancestry.com. Anything you can suggest?
Hi Suanj, I will follow your suggestion about to review & post to the Campania emigration site & write to Alfonso Toscano.I have also located Caporales in Acerra thru paginebianche.it & will contact those I think may be relatives.
Any further suggestions from either of you are most welcome, and THANK YOU for your help!

SUCCESS!!
I used the recommendations from this site, to locate actual living Caporale blood relatives, in Acerra! We are already in touch.
It turns out that most of the Caporale in Acerra are related to one another, therefore, they are to me also.

One tip which may help others: I pulled up the names of all Caporale in Acerra in the Pagine Bianche (Italian White Pages), which includes addresses, I wrote all 26 a letter in Italian with the info I had on my ancestors...I had email answers from 3 of them within days! One of them is my 3rd cousin, the others are cousin's cousins...

He actually went to the Acerra City Hall & pulled the records on my direct ancestors, dating back to 1819, in ONE day. I can fill in the blanks prior to 1819 with info from familysearch.org & other sites.

I want to thank Peter & Suanj for their recommendations & assistance!

I have Caporale in my family

Postby say » 26 Feb 2004, 02:05

In doing research for my family tree, I also have the Caporale name in it from marriage. I have a John Caporale born Feb 5, 1922 and marrying Loretta Mongelluzzo, born April 21, 1923 and died May 31, 1994. Are any of these relations?

Sherry, I do not have any record of those names in my family tree. Do you know where John Caporale was born? My Caporale are from Acerra, near Naples.

My grandparents are from Nusco, Avellino-Italy. They came to the US in the 1920's and settled in Long Island. I don't know where the Caporale side is from-this is from marriage to a family member.
