My father emigrated from Enna Sicily (through Palermo) as a child.
My grandfather, Rosario Guttadauro, parents were Giuseppe Guttadauro and Carmela Daniels.
My grandmother, Paola DiMarco, parents were Angelo DiMarco and Giuseppa Lomando.
All were from Enna (sometimes called Castrogiovanni) in central Sicily.
Any information, or help on where or how to look for information, would be greatly appreciated.
Are you thinking that you'd like to research the Italian records yourself for births, marriages and deaths? If so, the microfilms for the period 1820 - 1910 are available to rent from a Mormon Family History Library. To search their site, go to: www.familysearch.org Click on Search Records; Library Catalog; Place Search; enter "Enna" in the place box and click search. You will find a listing of the films. But, prior to this, if you have no experience researching the records, you might like to obtain and read a book on the subject. One popular one is by Lynn Nelson, entitled, "A Genealogist's Guide to Discovering your Italian Ancestors". Since the records are written in Italian, a book such as this would help a great deal. I've seen the name Gruttadaurio in the records of Valguarnera, Enna, Sicily, as well. (A short distance from Enna (Castrogiovanni).
I have seen the name Gruttadaurio when we visited Enna some years ago but they are not related to our family.
I will look into the Mormon Library and check out the book you suggested.
Just knowing where to begin is a big help.
