Sandulli Family Mystery Pentone Catanzaro

Postby carlo101 » 02 Jul 2009, 01:21

I recently heard a story that my grandfather Camillo Sandulli had (7) brothers. I am trying to find out if this is true and if so where did they go.

Hi Carlo....

Just a little help... the correct last name was Santulli, possible it was americanized in Sandulli....

Here is the 1921 arrival manifest from http://www.ellisisland.org/search/passSearch.asp , Camillo was leaving in Italy - Pentone (Catanzaro Province - Calabria region) his father Carlo Santulli:

Pink,
Thank you so much for the reply. I actually found my grandfather's passport, several certificates (written in Italian) and what I believe to be his travel papers.

I also found that a number of people with the Sandulli name live in New Haven Conn. I wonder if they are Santulli? His wife (my grandmother) Anita was a Capilupi and I understand that she was born in Argentina when her family had to flee Italy.

My Mother's father has an interesting story also, his name was Carmello Malerba but I understand that he was a merchant marine who came to America, joined the U.S. Army in WW1 and was naturalized during that process.

Thank You Laura, Edmondo, Val..

You are amazing! It would have taken me a long time to find that information. Yes the census information for Malerba is correct. My Grandfather made his living as a butcher but he was also a musician in the army and a musician during civillian life. He was the founder of the Gusippe Verde Lodge for the Pittsburgh chapter of ISDA.

Now I need to find out if my Great Grandfather Carlo Santulli had more than one son.
