Briguglio, Sorinto, or Di Natale surname

Postby orrglehillfarm » 04 Jul 2009, 22:03

I am looking for information about my great-grandfather, Francesco Briguglio from Santa Teresa di Riva. He was born in 1881. My great-grandmother was Concetta Sorinto. We are told she was adopted--she used the surname Sorinto in Sicily but records indicate that she used Di Natale in the US. I can't find records of her at all. Help? I written to Santa Teresa and got records of Francesco and the children, but no Concetta.

Hello: I'm new to this site and think it's wonderful--I am spending lots of time reading forums. I got one response but can't seem to find it again, but appreciate it. The Concetta DiNatale suggested couldn't be my great-grandmother because my grandmother was born in 1906 in Santa Teresa. I think Concetta was still using Sorinto as her surname--I have a record of her coming over in 1910 to Ellis Island. She was 27 years old. That's the last place I can track her. They say she died a few years later--no records anywhere that I can find.

Oddly enough if you subtract 27 years of age from 1910 makes her birth year 1883.....the same year of birth of the female I pointed out to you in the name of Concetta Di Natale....what do you think? =Peter=

Thank you, Peter--you are right--I'm going to look at this more closely. I wish she used one surname instead of two...makes this so confusing.

Since the comune couldn't find your g-grandmother's record, you could also review your family’s records for Santa Teresa di Riva on microfilm yourself.

Your nearest Family History Center has records for Santa Teresa di Riva on microfilm.
The cost is about $6 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.
