Looking for Family - Inverso or Messano

Postby Tgolden » 15 Jul 2009, 18:04

Hello,

I am looking for any information on my past family. I am from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania USA and am currently living in the U.K.
I am the grandson of Vincenzo Inverso who came to Pittsburgh Pa. when he was 8 years old. He came over in 1919 with my great grandmother - Christina Messano. They came from the area of Torchiara.

My great grandfather was Francesco Inverso and he first sailed over in 1914 at the age of 22. He came to Pittsburgh and was from Roccadaspide.

He then came back to Italy by joining the US Army and returned back to Pittsburgh 1920 coming from an area called Rutino where he was staying with an Uncle also called Francesco.

I would like to also point out that in the United States we used the family name Inesso. Not sure how and why the name change came about.

This is most of the information i have and is from manifests. I can supply more information off of them if it helps. We have many family members living in the US that always talked about searching out our family history. I would like to to learn as much as possible about our history and plan a trip to meet family members if possible

Thanks for any guidance you can give
Best Regards
Tony Golden

Hi Tony, my grandmother was an Inverso (Vincenzina) from Torchiara. We are from the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, many of the Inessos were from the Morningside section of Pgh. I believe my great grandfather and your great grandfather were brothers. My email cstay@verizon.net, please contact me when you get this, my wife has been working on ancestry and may be able to fill in the blanks for you. All the Best! Charlie
