Hello and Welcome to the Forum!
Are the family pages on ancestry. com by 'thor205' yours?
Did you need any help finding any of your US records, or were you interested in assistance with finding your family's records in Italy (or both)
Or looking to connect with possible relatives?
Thank you!

Hi Valarie
yes thor205 is mine on ancestry.com. I found most if not all of the US census and Immigration records.

I'm looking for my great grandparents and beyond who stayed in Baselice. There are a few people who fit from searching ancestry.com but there are so many Iampietro Lembo Colucci Marucci's in 1800's Baselice - it's impossible to tell if it's the right person!

I'm hoping the names might ring a bell with someone here!
Thank you!
Rosemary

Hello Rosemary :D !
Italian records are wonderfully complete.
Your family's records are kept at the comune where the event(s) took place.
Here are two ways you can conduct your research.
Valarie

Research in Baselice by writing to the comune:

Italian form letter generator with instructions:
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp

Address:

Comune di Baselice
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via Santa Maria 83
82020 Baselice BN
ITALY

Website for finding comune addresses:
http://www.nonsolocap.it/
---

And, your nearest Family History Center has records for Baselice on microfilm, but only for 1809-1860.
The cost is about $6 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.

Family History Library Catalog:

film notes for Baselice

Topic: Italy, Benevento, Baselice - Civil registration

They're usually staffed with very helpful volunteers.
You may want to call 1st to verify their hours.

To ThorLembo:

My grandfather was born in Baselice around 1891, and I knew so little about this family that I decided to document his entire town based on available microfilm of vital records. The records range from 1809-1860. So far I have documented more than 9,000 people (some are from neighboring towns and married someone in Baselice). I post the updated GEDCOM on RootsWeb at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin ... b=baselice. I also have a Baselice tree on Ancestry (I'm diann148), but that is much, much smaller.

If you are able to trace your family back to 1860 or earlier, this database may have tons of relatives for you.

Hi DiAnn
It's me Rosemary! Your database is wonderful I wish I could find the puzzle piece from 1860-1880 that would link me to it because I believe my relatives are in there. If I could find the missing link from my great grandfather Nicola Iampietro (1883-1926) and his parents it would open some doors. Unfortunately for me I don't have dates and the people all have the same combination of names so it's been very hard ;)
Talk to you soon

Sheesh. I knew "Thor" was familiar! I think the key for me to leap from my grandfather to these ancestors was finding out my great grandfather's mother's maiden name. A friend in Italy went to Baselice to request some birth and death records for me, but these did not include parents' names. All the Baselice websites I'd bookmarked have disappeared, or I'd give you an email address to write to. Let me ask my friend Luigi how to go about requesting an actual copy of a birth certificate for your great grandfather - one that would have his mother's maiden name.

DiAnn

Hey, wait a minute. I have a letter from Baselice regarding my family's records. The official address is:

Comune di Baselice
Via Santa Maria
82020 Baselice (BN)

The registrar (L'Ufficiale d'Anagrafe) in 2007 was Filomena Cormano. Google does a very nice job of translating into Italian, and I think the USPS.com site tells you how to address mail to foreign countries.

I am new to this. looking for records in Bascile, Italy. Our Family name was changed by interviewer at Ellis Island intake. The I in our name was mistaken to be a G and our name was changed from Iampietro to Gampietro. How should I proceed?

Thank you for any help.
Nick Gampietro
