Current day Cangelosi's in San Guiseppe Jato

Postby GCangelosi » 05 Sep 2009, 17:14

Around the turn of the last century (1900) my husbands great great grandfather, wife and young son left Sicily for Tunisia in a rowing boat. We have been told that the family originally came from San Guiseppe Jato near Palermo. They were vineyard workers or owned a vineyard there.

The grandfather was Guiseppe Cangelosi, we think his father was also called Guiseppe. The name has been passed down to the first son right up to my husbands Uncle Guiseppe born in Tunisia. His brother, my husband's father was Giovanni born in Sidi Salah.
Are there any Cangelosi's today who know anything about this story or who have any information that can tell us more about the origins of the family.
There is a similar story about the maternal side Parrino who came from Palermo around the same time.
