Surnames Domico & Curasi

Postby Curasi » 28 Oct 2009, 14:21

Hello,

My great grandmother's maiden name was Domico and my great grandfather's surname was Curasi. Does anyone have any information on this couple? I'm unable to find their first names or where they were from in Italy. They had at least one child - a son name Anthony Curasi (born in Italy May 18, 1893 / died in Los Angeles, California, USA June 25, 1951).

Thank you so much!

Hello!
Do you have all of your family's US records (census, military, ship manifest, etc)
For reference, is this your Antonio Curasi?
Thanks!

Hello!

That's definitely my grandfather! Thank you so very much! Do you happen to know how I might find his mother's first and last name? I think her last name was Domico. His father's first name?

I don't have any of our family US records. I looked on Ellis Island.com, but don't know which would be my family?

Do you think anyone with the surname Curasi is related? It's an unusual name.

Grazie!!!

Since this is your Antonio Curasi, you could write to San Marco D'Alunzio for his birth record (act):

Italian form letter generator with instructions:
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp

Address:

Comune di San Marco d'Alunzio
Ufficio dello Stato Civile

You're right Curasi is an unusual name.
There was probably a relationship between the Curasi folks from San Marco

Quite a few folks with unusual names have had success with writing to people in Italy with their surname:

Anthony Curasi born in Sicily around 1905 and died about 1952.
He came to the USA at some point and lived in New Jersey and Brooklyn.
Married Marion Vecchio(?).
They had 3 boys (Dennis, Anthony, Robert) and 3 girls (Mary, Theresa, Cathy).
Unfortunately, that's all the information I have.
...
My great grandmother's maiden name was Domico and my great grandfather's surname was Curasi.
Does anyone have any information on this couple?
I'm unable to find their first names or where they were from in Italy.
They had at least one child - a son name Anthony Curasi (born in Italy May 18, 1893 /
died in Los Angeles, California, USA June 25, 1951).

If we can locate your family on a census it may give us an idea of an immigration year.
Do you know where and when his children were born?
What are his daughters' married names.
Thanks!

Hello!

Antonio and Marion Curasi's 6 children were born in New Jersey (Pasaic), and/or New York (Brooklyn) 1934 through the 1940's. Dennis is the oldest boy, then Anthony, then Robert. Mary (married name McGuire) is the oldest daughter, then Teresa (married name Giroux), then Catherine (married name McLaughlin I think).

Thanks again - I appreciate your help so much!

Dina,
Thank you so much for the update.
It appears that we won't be able to find a census with the children since they currently end at 1930.

Hello!

The one that you found with birthdate May 18, 1892(3) is definitely my grandfather! I just need to find out what his mother and father's names were. What is the best way?

Thank you!

The fastest would be ordering his SS Application ($27)
(order the full record, not an extract)
Sending a letter to his comune in Italy is less expensive, but may be slower.
(no charge unless the comune requests a fee for copying)

Hi, Valarie and Dina :D

Another possibility for Antonio's mother's maiden name is Damico. Both the Curasi and Damico surnames have listings in the Italian white pages for the town of San Marco d'Alunzio.

Hi Valarie & Biff,

Thank you! You've helped me so much!

If you find any other information on Domico and Curasi, please post it. I'm also looking for my great grandmother Marietta Lo Vecchio's information. I don't know her maiden name or her husband's first name. They had the following children: Marion, Anthony, Ralph, and Catherine.

Thanks!
Dina

Hey Dina!
Picked up your grandmother's birth date on this post:
http://italiangenealogy.tardio.com/Foru ... 14124.html

If these are her records, Antonio was married to someone else on his 1917 WWI Draft Registration Card...

Hi Valarie,

My grandfather Anthony Curasi (birthdate 05.18.1893) was married to Marian Vecchio Curasi. When he passed away, she married Thomas Rechichi (you discovered that!). It's a bit difficult to read Anthony's WWI draft card - could you please tell me what name is listed as his wife?

Thank you!

Hey Dina,
His wife's name isn't listed on his card.
