1887 LEFT ITALY TO COME TO U.S.

HOW CAN I LOCATE 2 SETS OF GREAT GRANDPARENTS WHO LEFT ITALY IN 1885 AND 1887. ELLIS ISLAND.COM ONLY GOES TO 1892. THE LAST NAMES ARE CALABRESE AND ANTONELLI.

Hi: are 205 Calabrese persons emigrated from 1880/1891 and 91 Antonelli persons ditto..search on http://213.212.128.168/radici/ie/defaultie.htm

Send an e-mail to : New York.archives@NARA.gov and request information on their arrival at NYC. Give them full names and ages or year of birth and town of origin. However, full name and age or year of birth is ok too.

If you wish you can call them at 212-401-1638 and ask them for form 81 which you can submit to them and any other information you wish. Peter

THE LINK FOR THE ITALIAN DATA BASE WORKS HOWEVER IT DOES NOT LET ANYONE REGISTER. I BELIEVE THE LINK HAS A FAULT. IT LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD BE A GREAT SITE FOR ANYONE LOOKING IF IT WORKED.[/url]

The website gives no information as to the town of origin in Italy so that you have to know someones birth year and even then thats not a sure thing. If you know the age or birth year and the ships name and approximate date of arrival in the USA then the roots link that Suanj gave you is fine but without the town of origin you still have to go back to NARA to be sure they are your grandparents. In many records are also Town of origin and province of origin Peter...this is sure..!! :wink: suanj

I am talking about the Roots website for USA Argentina and Brazil. Only the Brazil gives towns of origin Argentina and USA do not give towns. That is why I mentioned it for the roots website only. I know your right that other websites gives the town of origin but the only one I can think of is going to NARA at this moment. Peter
