I am trying to trace back my family here is what I Know...

Leonardo Gilardi & a wife (Possibly Anna ) came over from Sciliy ( Possibly Termini ) italy with at least 2 Children August (born in 1890 )
and Brother Micheal .

They came to America in Approximately 1896.

Eventually Leonardo And Family settled in Chicago Illinois. ( My father says some Gilardi\'s Settled around Pittsburg PA.)

August had 4 Children, Margie (Harrison) (lived in California), Lorraine (Zuechel), Vivian (Heuer) & Leonard ( Gilard) ( My Father.)

Micheal Gilardi settled in Chicago and had had several children ( one possibly named Gus Gilardi ).

I am getting Death And marriage certificates for August ( Sometimes Gus ) to try to get more information.

Thank You for any help you can provide............Len Gilard ( my grandfather August Gilard Dropped the i from name to fit on theatre marqees.)

If you wish to trace back then go to www.ellisisland.org website and find the original entry into the USA as immigrants. That will give you town of origin and birth year and the ships manifest will give other destination information. Once you have full names and birth years you can request documents from town of origin such as birth and marriage records from the Ufficio di Stato Civile in the town of of origin. You can make such requests in Italian in form letters which can be obtained in www.italianancestry.com in part 3. Good Luck Peter
