Good morning all,
sorry to jump in the middle here, but I have been searching the web looking for people who have heritage roots in San Giovanni in Fiore
The rugged Land of South Italy was dirt poor at the beginning of the twentieth century, when people like my grandfather Gaetano Arcuri,
my uncle Giovanni Arcuri,my aunts Barbara and Rosa Guarascio packed up their family and struck out for the New World,
like boatloads of others who fled the Calabria region's.
I am sure they were grateful to be alive thanks to the generosity offered by a foster country ,
in their case the United States of America,( I think West Virginia)
and have done their utmost to repay that kindness with honest hard-work.
Who knows or might know please let me know any news will be appreciate
Hello and Welcome to the Forum !
Are you only looking for people with roots in San Giovanni in Fiore?
Or are you also interested in finding out what happened to your family in the United States of America?
Thank you, Valarie
Thanks to Peter and Valarie, I am interested to find someone who also has roots in San Giovanni in Fiore, but in particular the descendants of John Arcuri and all those who have in their ancestors by the surname Guarascio mother, I already know that site but there are not a lot of information about.
Thank you for the update !
We will all be happy to look for descendents of your families in the US
Do you have any immigration dates, approx birth dates, names of other family members or locations in the US?
Would need a few more details about your Giovanni to confirm any US records.

There are several ways to connect with people and in case you would prefer to do your own research, you may want to try:
First of all I want to thank Mr. Peter and Mrs. Valarie and Nuccia for all information and links where I can be able to investigate, for the moment I want to discuss with my relatives in order to gather further information, then I can be more accurate if any of them remember the other names that have emerged from these links, then I will write about this investigation. Thanks again and again
after discussing with my relatives, we concluded that the news regarding my aunts Rose and Barbara Guarascio are correct,
for one simple reason: his mother's name was Ursula Allevato and since this name was not very common to time we have no doubt about
If I understood well they married Mr. Marra and Mr. Martino so I have to find their descendants with this last name,
I'd love it if someone could indicate to me in which american city
Regarding John Arcuri we are still investigating and as soon as I will have news I'll write to you again, sorry if my english is not
so good as your, I hope you will able to understand me. Thanks a lot to you all
Ps If someone needs news from San Giovanni in Fiore I will do everything to make it useful
Your english is excellent.
Here's a 2004 obituary for one of Barbara Marra's sons from Clarksburg, West Virginia

(thier email address isn't public, you can only send a note thru ancestry. com)
Totonno...My name is Patrick Angotti. I have been researching the families from San Giovanni in Fiore, who settled in the Clarksburg, Fairmont and Morgantown areas of West Virginia. My family went from San Giovanni to Cerenzia to Clarksburg and then to Morgantown.
Hello Valarie, thanks again for your invaluable help, after careful consideration of all the documents that you have kindly presented to us, we have concluded this is my uncle John Arcuri, because in fact his mother was Maria Theresa Spadafora. Therefore there is just one John Arcuri, perhaps for reasons unknown to us has changed his surname to Arcure. Thanks again hopefully with your valuable help we can find in America some of his descendants. By the way I have already found one cousin, niece of my aunt Barbara Guarascio .Thanks again
