Pantusa / Granata

Postby melissascalise » 01 Feb 2010, 18:52

I am looking for the parents of Joesph Pantusa who was born in Italy on October 4th, 1884 and Married Victoria Granata who was also born in Italy on March 12th, 1893. I am also looking for the parents of Victoria Granata. If anyone knows information on either one of them please let me know, or if anyone knows a good source to find the info please share it.

*Both passed away in the US, I know Joesph came to the US in 1910 but cant find any records showing his parents ever did.

*Not sure when Victoria made her way to the US

Ok some more info on Victoria Granata is... She was on the Cretic Ship sailing from Naples on November 21, 1911. The birth town looks to be Cosenza Spernain. From the looks of it her mom was widowed and brought her and her younger sister. I cant make out the mothers name. Please HELP

Welcome :-)

As I look at the manifest it does not look to me like the mother is a widow. It indicates that she is F, M. (female, married). Mother's name looks like Rosa Campanaro and her occupation is listed as servant with "wife" written over it. Vittoria is listed as "domestic". The dates written after Vittoria and Rachael could be dates of naturalization...we can follow up that lead.

The second page of the manifest has their destination... to husband/father Pietro Granata, Commerce St., San Antonio, TX.

Here at the forum we can help you locate other information through census, etc.

Meanwhile, you can write for Vittoria's Social Security Application (form SS-5) which will name her parents.

WOW you are good, thank you so much! Now I need the parents of Joesph Pantusa... I cant find the ship records, all I found was a year by his WW1 draft card. As I said before he was born Oct 4, 1884 in Italy and died July 7th 1978 in San Antonio, TX

Here are some manifests and border crossings that I think may be your Joseph (Giuseppe) Pantusa. His father's name may have been Biagio.
On the 1908 border crossing card mentions that he first arrived in 1904, April 22 on the Konig Albert. Found him on the 1906 manifest.

1906 manifest (SS Konig Albert, Dec. 1906)
Sorry about the size. Here is the information from line 21.
Pantusa, Giuseppe, 24, single, porter, from Spezzano Grande, Cosenza, headed for Port Arthur final destination. Going to brother Biagio in NY.

Look at line 6 - leaving father Biagio in Spezzano Grande, Cosenza
