looking for a link to these families through FRANCHINA LINE
i was just wondering if there is a problem with my questions? I had such a great response the first time i posted about family...now i am not getting anything...did i tick off anyone? if i did i am sorry...
I went to the web sites to search for anything and i cannot find the connection. we are told the Franchina ladies were sisters.
If these are the Franchina folks that you are trying to connect, you'll probably need to write to their comune in Italy for their birth, marriage or death records (acts) to discover the names of their parents.

Ok, so I'm looking for Franchina's anywhere. My great Grandfather was born in Santa Agata di Militello, Messina and came to America in 1908. Tomasso Franchina. He changed his name to Frankine when he got here. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi...do you know the names of your grandpas children? or any siblings? or his parents names? that would be a start to see if there is any connection....
My grandfathers mothers maiden name was a Franchina....
My Great Grandfather's children were: Mary, Joseph, Frances. I know he had siblings and I'm still trying to figure out names. I know that some went to Portugal and others went to Argentina (Buenos Aires), but as of right now, I don't know the names. I'm hoping that my Aunt Mary's mind can still work enough to give me that info.
I have both the Franchina and the Deluca family names in the genealogy research and I am willing to share any information: Here is a brief discription of the information I have currently.
My great grandmother was Maria (Ravipinto) Franchina (b. 4/22/1887 +12/28/1963) and her parents were Joseph Ravipinto and Carmen DeLuca, sorry I have no dates associated with Joseph and Carmen.
Maria (Ravipinto) Franchina married Cologeco Franchina and they had the following children Rosina Franchina (my grand-mother) (b. 02/08/1908 +04/08/1966), Joseph Franchina (b. abt 1909) and Carmella Millie Franchina (b. abt 1912 +03/02/1985)
I do have records of the 1910 Census showing Maria and Cologeco and also their children Rosina and Joseph. On the census information I have is also shows that Cologeco worked as a laborer at the slate mines and there is also another Franchina listed under Maria and Cologeco family. Francesco Franchina (32), his wife Benedetta Franchina (26) and their daughter Rosina Franchina (6). I believe Francesco may be a brother or some relative.
Sometime between the years 1910 and 1917 Cologeco died (it is unknown the reason for his death but I believe it may have been due to a mining accident and I am researching that now). Anyway Maria Ravipinto Franchina appears on the 1920 Census and is now married to a Carmello Pretopapa and the children on this census are Rosina Franchina, Joseph Franchina, Carmella Franchina and Lawrence Pretopapa (b. 01/05/1917 +abt 05/1981) Rose Pretopapa (b. 11/05/1918 +07/05/2005). My grandmother is listed as 12 years old on this census.
I also have information regarding my grand-mothers siblings Joseph and Carmella. Joseph married Diega Picone but I do not have their marriage date. I have found that records of Diega Picone Franchina (b. 09/22/1914 +12/12/2005) and Carmella Franchina (b. abt 1912 +03/02/1985) married Emelio Quigley but I do not have a marriage date for them.
This is the information I have on the Franchina/DeLuca union on our family tree. I am trying to find the record of my great-grandfathers death and also any siblings that he may have had and any other information regarding the Franchina families.
Hope this helps in your research and sorry I am just now repling. All the best in your search. - Sam Piazza
I am currently doing research on the Franchina name from Sicily. My grandmother was born
Rosina Franchina, in Galati Mamertino, Sicily, in 1883. She immigrated to the USA in 1905. Her father was Giacomo Franchina. I do not know where he was born but he did live in Galati Mamertino and had many other children. Rosina Franchina , had many cousins in Sant Agata. I believe her father had many brothers, but have not yet been able to identify them or what their fathers first name was. I do know that some noted Italian artist where related,
being Basilio Franchina 1914- 2003 and his brother Nino Franchina 1912- 1987. I had hoped to find more on the family tree by tracking their linage, but have not been able to find information on their family tree.
My grandmother, Rosina Franchina was married to Pasquale, Charles DeLuca, and resided in Bellevue, Ohio.
I'm looking infomation on the family of my Great Grandfather, Giacomoa Franchina, he
resided in Galati Mamertino in the 1800's
