How can we start searching?

Postby Bozzano » 07 Mar 2010, 15:49

The grandmother was born in Italy in the year 1909. We know ??? her birthplace, we know her birthdate, but we don't know her surname, because she was an adopted. We don't know who was her real father, her real mother. Where and how can we start searching?

To find the town mailing addresses go to www.nonsolocap.it and put int he name of the townon top and click CERCA and when the zip code, town name and province intials come up click your arrown right onthe town name and up will come the "tuttitalia" website forall the adminstrative addresses and www for the tourist portion.

Go to www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/it ... tters.html for form letters to mail to the UFFICIO DI STATO CIVILE at the address you will find inthe "tuttiitalia" address by scrolling down to MUNICIPIO. Birth, marriage and detah records are normally free of charge starting in 1809 to 1900 (normally).

Go to www.paginebianche.it for potential relatives by putting in name in the surname in first line, town in second line and click CERCA for any listings. The potentialrelatives letter are inthe above angelfire website. =Peter=

If you know the birth place and birth year, what are they?

Maybe there are microfilmed records available to look over. I have seen many Italian church parish records, where the person that is being raised by another family, still has his own surname listed in the records, kind of like a foster child situation in the United States.

Can you send me some links about microfilms or churches? The birth place is in the Lucca - Pisa - Viareggio triangle.
