Hi and welcome to the forum,

Can you give us a little more information. Where did he settle? Do you know how old he was? Was he married? What was his occupation?

please note that on the death certificate there is listend the SSN... you may request the application he used to have the Number:

http://genealogy.about.com/od/online_re ... equest.htm

were you can find:

•Full name
•Full name at birth, including maiden name
•Present mailing address
•Age at last birthday
•Date of birth
•Place of birth (city, county, State)
•Father's full name
•Mother's full name, including maiden name
•Sex
•Race as indicated by the applicant
•Whether the applicant ever applied for Social Security or Railroad Retirement before
•Current employer's name and address
•Date signed
•Applicant's signature

Even if I believe you have enough confirmation his place of birth was Alimena in Sicily....

You can write directly to the comune of Alimena to request records.

This link will give you the form letter in Italian to request documents.

http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp

Use this address:

Ufficio di Stato Civile
Via Catania, 68
90020 Alimena (PA)
ITALY
