seeking info on Curino surname in Piedmont

Postby robertskool » 02 Jun 2010, 04:03

I have traced our family tree to my great, great grandparents who lived in the comune of Camagna Monferrato in the Province of Alessandria during the mid to late 1800s. Their surnames were spelt as "Curino" by officials in records of births, deaths & marriages. However our family at that time signed their surname using the spelling "Corino". Further one branch of our family used the surname Curino while the alternative spelling Corino has passed down to my current generation. Is there a connection to the comune of Curino in the Province of Biella? This has been a mystery to our family for some years & we'd really appreciate any information as to the origins of our surname.
Best Regards
Rob

Hello and welcome to this forum-

Some surnames do derive from place names, so it is possible that the surname originated in the town of Curino. You may wish to read the following, although your specific surname is not included there.
