CARROLLO/GRECO/CIMILO/PISAURO/VOLANTE Very Limited Info

Postby VolanteDigger » 04 Jun 2010, 22:11

I have Theresa Carollo I believe was born in 1890 In Bagheria Sicily. She came to the US 9 Oct 1920 and had her daughter with her Teresa diChristian.
17 Dec 1920 She married Guiseppe Volante in NY City.
On the ships manifest she list she is going to her fathers Guiseppe Carollo in Newark NJ and the daughter list she is going to her Uncles Michealangelo Carrollos at the same address in Newark.

I can find no record of Guiseppe Carollo or Michealangelo.

Giuseppe Volante was born 1 June 1889 in Sicily. and died 28 Jan 1944 in Bloomfield NJ that is all I have on them. Theresa and Guiseppe (now going by Joseph) had a son Antonio Joseph born in 1921 in NJ

Who is Teresa di Christians father? I have she was born in 1914
Who were the parents of Theresa Carollo and Guiseppe Volante?

ummm it cut me off.

Next I have Pasqualina Grecco. Her last name is spelled different ways mostly it is Greco in the family.
She was born 1882 in Italy and married Joseph Pisuaro. I found a Pasqualina Greco who arrived in the US through NY on 26 May 1901 but I am not positive if that is her.
I also found a Pasqualina Greco who applied for Naturalization in NY on Mar 30, 1944 who was born abt 1890.

Joseph Pisauro was born about 1870 in Italy and immigrated to the US in 1890. He is on the 1910 Census living in Newark NJ but he is married by this time.
the 1910 Census states that there is a Vito Pisauro age 65 Father of Joseph and Mary age 14 Sister of Joseph living with them as well. But they are not there in 1920. Where did Mary go? Vito most likely is deceased now.
The census states that Vito is born about 1845 In Italy but we all know how accurate the census isnt. With some of the variations of the spellings of names over the years I really wonder if they could read and write to be a census worker.

Next I have Louise Cimilo born 1907 in Newark NJ daugher of Angelo and Angela Maria Cimilo. She married Peter Pisauro. Son of Guiseppe Pisauro and Paqualina Greco.

Thats all we have. Do not know where or when her parents came from. Only found Angelo born 1873 in Italy and on the 1910 Census it states Louise name is Luigina By 1920 Maria (middle name) is listed as head of household and a widow. They lived in Newark NJ.
I did find a Angelo and Angela living with a 71 Yr old Pasquale in Newark in 1901 and since the name Pasqualina is so popular in the family I am hoping this is the father of Angelo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as no one is left alive to provide the info needed to write the family history.

Vital records in Italy are filed in the comune (town)
Since you know Bagheria is the birth location for both Teresa Carollo and her daughter, it may be a good place to start to find both their birth records and Teresa's marriage record
Valarie

Your nearest Family History Center can order records for Bagheria on microfilm.
The cost is about $6 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.

Hello and welcome!

Is the Family Tree on Ancestry for Giuseppe Volante yours?

Do you have this WWII registration card for him? It lists his place of birth as Marianopoli...

Website for Marianopoli, Sicily

Using the process Valarie outlined above, you can also look at the microfilm for Marianopoli (Caltanisetta), Sicily 1821 - 1910

At this site

www.italiangen.org

the listing for marriage of Giuseppe Volante
Volante Giuseppe Dec 17'20 1921 Manhattan 10892

The last number is the certificate number, taking place in Manhattan.

You can send for the marriage certificate which will list the parents of both the bride and groom, as well as their place of birth.
