Military records

Postby Truglio » 10 Jun 2010, 15:51

Hello,
I have been attempting to contact the State Archives at Catanzaro with no success. They will not respond to my inquiries. I am trying to get copies of my husband's grandfather's World War I military records. I am willing to send the required fee, but don't know how much to send or by what means to send them. He was born in Ciro, Italy in 1897 and served in the Italian Army during World War I. Can anyone offer assistance?

What methods have you tried thus far?

There is a thread on the subject of military records here: http://italiangenealogy.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=15162/

The address for the Catanzaro archives appears to be:

Archivio di Stato di Catanzaro
Piazza Rosario, 6
88100 - Catanzaro (CZ)
ITALY

Their email address is ascz@archivi.beniculturali.it (remove the spaces).

My experience has been that state archives will examine their records and determine how many pages meet the requested information, then calculate a total fee based on the number of pages to be copied plus postage. They typically send an email or letter informing you of the fee and - more often than not it seems - send the documents the same day and trust that you will ultimately send the fee at some later date.
Carmine

My hobby is finding things. Having found most of my own, I am happy to help others find theirs. PM me! :)

I have sent three (3) separate emails and a letter but have received no response at all thus far.
