Capobianco & Borelli from Benevento

Postby RCapobianco » 15 Jun 2010, 07:50

I am trying to find info on ancestors and possible siblings of Giovanni Capobianco (b.2 Feb 1863) of Benevento, who arrived with son, Silvio, 12, through NY, 18 Jul 1902. Destination: Natick, RI and then settled in Providence, RI.
Per the Citta di Milano's manifest, Giovanni was in the US in 1898.
Son, Aristide (Orestide) arrived 7 Dec 1901, in NY on Nuestria.
Angelina Lucia Borelli, b.1868, Giovanni's wife, arrived 1 Oct 1902, with 8 of the younger children. I have been told Lucia gave birth to 22 children, but many died very young, some before immigrating to America. I have info on most all of Giovanni's children that lived in Providence, but would like to see if there is a connection with the Capobianco's in New York and establish a link to the Capobianco's in Campania region.
I do not believe my Giovanni lived in New York, especially after 1901, but maybe he had brothers that moved there.
Thank you for any assistance & guidance.

Thank you for the info and the link. I haven't done any research in over 10 years, and it is certainly easier now. I'm excited that I may actually find the family branch in Benevento!
I had seen some of the info before, but could not verify the source. The 1910 Census is very interesting; names are distorted, (Americanized?), but with birthdays I can figure who's who. The count on the living children is confusing, Aristide is not listed as living in the household. He would be #12.
Though the family told me of the initial residence in Natick, I never heard of a step-brother Volpe Ermilindo.
Also, in reviewing manifests from Ellis Island, I found a Nicola Capobianco, F 19 y, Single, arrived on the Nord America, 10/01/1902 with Lucia Borelli and 7 of the children (surname Borelli). Could the manifest have the gender wrong?
Thanks again. I look forward to uncovering more fascinating facts.
Becky
