If the above email address doesn't work, you may need to try the following one. Also any correspondence needs to be in Italian.

serv-demografici@comune.valguarnera.en.it (no spaces in email address)

Thank you everyone! I am trying to help a gentleman about to turn 90 years old. He is unsure of his actual birth day but believes it to be in July. His family immigrated to US in 1921 when he was 9 months old.

Let us know if we can help in any way.

Have you found his ship's manifest yet?

US census reports?

If you give us some names to work with...

Just me.....no need to worry about exact dates. An approximate date or just the year is enough so do not worry.

I am not aware that there are many unanswered requests for documents?? Perhaps because requests are sent in english, poorly worded Italian or some other reason. You can check with Mormon church records for availability of civil records from 1809 to 1900 for each comune in Italy. =Peter=

His name is Saverio Marchese (also grandfather's name), father Cristoforo (1890), mother Giusepina Santamaria (1897).

Ship Manifest: departure 22 April 1921, arriving Philadelphia, ship name Taormina. Brother Giuseppe & family came with and I believe another brother Vincent was already here. Cristoforo & Vincent are found in the 1930 census.

He dearly wants to find "official" information about himself.

There are microfilmed records available for the town available for rental through a local family history center run by the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. To find the center nearest your home, go their website www.familysearch.org

Registri dello stato civile di Valguarnera Caropepe (Caltanissetta), 1820-1910
Authors Valguarnera Caropepe (Caltanissetta)

Civil registration (births, deaths, marriages, miscellaneous records, marriage banns, supplemental documents) from Valguarnera Caropepe, Enna, Italy. Before 1927 Valguarnera Caropepe was part of the province of Caltanissetta. Some years may be missing or out of order. Includes indexes.

I checked the dates on the LDS microfilm and it might show the birth of the parents, but their marriage and birth of Saverio happen after 1910.

I'm new to Italian research but believe the province would be Enna.
