I recently discovered my Italian ancestor James Stephen Corrotti while researching my family tree on my grandmothers side.
I have census records from 1851 stating his birth was about 1797 and was born in Pisa, Tuscany; he was also married while living in London from around 1820-1825 to Ann Wood and had a number of children. He died in 1870 in London.
From looking a census records he stayed in London for most of his life, and traveled to Sheffield, Yorkshire in 1851. I also have gathered his occupation from the census results which states is as sculptor. Adding to this I found references to him while searching on google which shows an insurance bought by James Corrotti suggesting him being a rather wealthy man being an "artist in alabaster and dealer in fancy foreign goods".

I would like to find any record of him in Pisa however I have been unsuccessful as the name Corrotti seems to be rather rare in Italy and would therefore appreciate any help finding any references to him.
Thanks

Corrotti family
Re: Corrotti family
hi and welcome to the forum.
The name is pretty rare. These two sites may help you to pinpoint where the name exists.

And here are Corrottis still in Italy. Most seem to be in the province of Lucca.
