Tom,
There's no doubt that wife Filippa, son Serafino and brother Angelo were all born in Agira

for reference, their 1907 manifest
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0008

last residence isn't as clear on Giuseppe's 1903 manifest

If you want to order Giuseppe's birth record to confirm his place of birth and parent's names:

address:

Comune di Agira
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via Vittorio Emanuele 372
94011 Agira EN

Your nearest Family History Center can order civil and church records for Agira on microfilm.
The cost is about $6 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.

Civil Records:

Topic:
Italy, Enna, Agira - Civil registration

Title:
Registri dello stato civile di Agira (Catania), 1820-1902 Agira (Catania).

Here is a record that was sent to me that is suppose to be my great-great grandfather's baptismal record (Serafino Polizzi - Baptized 1/1/1851. But it is not translated. Can anyone translate it into English for me?

Thanks,

Tom

Thank you for the info on Family Search. I have been there and was having some issues since they are moving images from the pilot site to the beta site.

I did go to the Elis Island Immigration site to view the ship manifest document for Giuseppe Polizzi and the last known residence they transcribed was 'Ascarafini'. But I can not find a comune in Sicily/Italy named Ascarafini.

Any ideas? Was it trasnscribed wrong? 'Ascarafini' is what I got when looking at the original document.

Also I sent off a letter to Agira to see if I can get a birth certificate for Serafino Polizzi (father to Guiseppe Polizzi). Cross your fingers.

Hi Tom!

You may want to repost your document here:

Chances are the members that help out with translations will see it there
