Question about baptismal records

Postby dixiecricket13 » 22 Jul 2010, 20:07

Hi -

I have found the naturalization records for Bernice Naro Carbone. YEA! And her birthday is listed. When I go to the Family Search Pilot Bisacquino baptismal records, I can find no record for her baptism.

Was it common to not be baptized? I assumed it was, sort of, a given that you were baptized. Ultimately I am trying to find out her parents' names.

Thanks in advance. By the way, my tree is on Ancestry - Naro family tree.

Not only was baptism common (we are talking about a nation of Catholics, after all), unlike here in the US where baptisms often occur many weeks after birth, my impression is that baptisms in Italy seem to be (now or in the past?) done within hours or at most days after birth.

Hi Carmine -

That is why I assumed children were/are baptized. Do you have any ideas on why she wouldn't be listed in the record? I am stumped.

Thank you-
Christina
