Digging deeper and deeper, Cozzi in San Giorgio del Sannio

Postby cozzi » 29 Jul 2010, 13:56

To everyone here that helps, I only hope I can return he favor at some time.
You are all very kind, considerate and tremendously helpful.

From the useful information I have already received from this forum, I have sent
letters to persons with the same names and churches in the areas believed to have
been home to my ancestors around 1875. Now I am working with what may turnout
to be a distant relative in the Benevento (BN) area. The churches have not yet responded
nor have the Ufficio Anagrafe or Ufficio di Stato Civile.
My contacts in the San Giorgio del Sannio/Benevento (BN) area claiming that little information
about people is available prior to 1850. What they have now, seems to be form the local church records, circa 1890.

Can anyone suggest other resources to find information on:
August Pasquale Cozzi or Cozza b. ~1850
Concetta Cozzi b. ~1850
Emanuela Cozzi b. ~1875
Alberinto Pasquale Cozzi b. 1875, emigrated to the U.S. 1895
In the areas in or around San Giorgio del Sannio, BN, Italy

Again, thank you very much

Hi Laura, yes, thanks, but what is strange for me, it is that nobody Cozzi born in all other communes from 1809 to 1860... maybe is a surname especially of San Giorgio del Sannio....

Can anyone suggest other resources to find information on:
August Pasquale Cozzi or Cozza b. ~1850
Concetta Cozzi b. ~1850
Emanuela Cozzi b. ~1875

By checking the microfilms you may be able to find at least Augusto Pasquale Cozzi's birth act... I believe it may have the annotation for his marriage with Concetta (so you'll know also her maiden name)

I am currently researching the meaning of the name Cozzi. My son is doing a school project.

What I know so far, is: Cozzi is an abreviation of the name Micozzi and it originated in Milano. My husband's family moved to Abruzzo Italy and the name was changed. There is very little information on this family name.
Good luck!
