Both of my grandparents, Anthony (Tony) and Louisa Daleo Provenzano, came from Sicily to the United States around 1906, according to the Census records. I cannot find anything in the immigration records or anything further back to tell me what city they were from. My uncle was born there also. Can anyone tell me where to look from here?
If your grandfather (or grandmother) had a Social Security #, then you can request a copy of their SS Application form. This will contain the names of parents, and the place of birth. It costs about $27 and can be requested online at this site...
I see a Tony Provenzano with a wife named Louise on the 1920 census for Murtland Ave, Washington, Pa. ED234, sheet 7A. I don't know if this is the same family. If it is: Tony was 36, wife Louise, 35, son Lester 16, son Joseph 11, daughter Mary 7, son Mike 4 8/12 and daughter Rose was 2 and 2 months. Tony, Louise, Lester and Joseph were born in Italy. His immigration year given as 1901 and hers and the two sons is given as 1908. Peg

Wow, you all are good! That is correct, susan J with all the names listed of my aunts and uncles and mom, Betty. I looked at the 1920 and 1930 census records from the Ancestry site and it showed their arrival in 1906. On the 1920 census records, both grandparents were 36 years old. It's interesting that my Uncle Pete, the oldest born in Sicily, seems to be listed as a Lester. Not sure who that is. If anyone can direct me towards records in Sicily, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi everybody, I know that one of my grandmother's relative moved to the USA last century. Her last name is Provenzano and she was from Palermo, Sicily. She used to send letters to the USA but we can't find them. What do I need in order to find out more details?Does the date of birth help? Unfortunately I don't have much information. I don't have contacts of her relatives here in my hometown Palermo.
