Bini, Santacesaria (Sasario) family from Monopoli, Bari

Postby gminfla » 14 Oct 2010, 15:50

My greatgrandparents were Giovanna Bini and Giovanni Santacesaria. Giovanna immigrated to the USA with four daughters, Caterina (my grandmother, married Ernesto Marziale), Maria, Donata and Vittoria in 1917 from Monopoli, Bari. I have found the immigration records on the Ellis Island site. I believe her father's name was "Vito" from Monopoli. I have not been able to find the immigration record for Giovanni. I am looking for genealogical information on these families. :)

If you search on stevemorse.org and do a phonetic search of the surname, you get 11 entries for the surname from the town of Monopoli, but no Giovanni.

Thanks, I'll have to check this name out. I'm wondering why I never found this name when I searched the Ellis Island site for "Santacesaria".

I tried this site, but could not find the phonetic search of the surname.

go to the gold form on www.stevemorse.org

type in your surname where it says last name (between where it say last name and the space for typing it in, there are three choices. Select the third choice which is "is phonetically.)"

also in the section below that, you can put in the town name. You can also select one of the other two options below that, which is sounds like or contains. That will give you more findings.
