Good afternoon, I have just registered on this site and wanted to say how nice it is to find so much information in one place. It will take me days to read all the posts. I am now retired and and able to spend time on researching my Italian roots. I am a member on Ancestry.com and have been able to research my husbands family with great ease. No so for my family. My father was 1st generation American, my grandparents both were born and married in Sicily. My question to you all is; how do I find and contact the proper office for birth and marriage certificates?

Do you know what town in Sicily your grandparents were from? If you do, we can help you locate mailing addresses for the town. Also there are some online records, so you may get lucky if your town's records are among them.

You should include a self-addressed but not stamped envelope with your request. Most towns do not charge for record copies, but some are starting to. Don't send any money with your request.
