Hello Thomas :-)

There are presently 3 listings for Cecchini in the city of Chieti in the Italian phone book...

http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... &dv=chieti

HOWEVER, Chieti is both a city and a Province. The Province of Chieti has many smaller towns (frazioni). Do you know if your GGF came from the city of Chieti, or the Province of Chieti?

Do you know if, and when, they immigrated to US? A clue may be found on the ship manifest...

There are three Cecchini's listed in the Italian telephone directory for Chieti; you may wish to try writing to them. See http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... hieti&l=en

There are also numerous Cecchini's with Facebook accounts, many of whom list various Italian locations as their hometowns. http://www.facebook.com/#!/search.php?q ... 2879459872

Are you looking for living relatives in US, or Italy, or both?

If in US, can you give us some idea of where in US Nicola, or Hector lived?

Could this be your GGF, Nicola?

Arriving 1905 with wife, Maria Antonia Santurbano (sp?), from Spoltore (not too far from Chieti)
Going to cousin Panfilo DiMarco in Steubenville, Ohio

You seem to be clicking on the "quote" button rather than the "post reply" button. :-)

Can you tell us where Hector was born (as suanj asked) and where he died?

And can you confirm or reject the above manifest for Nicola?

Hi,
maybe... I found some record:
Nicola Cecchini was born in the 1884, and I found the 1910 census; the surname is mispelled:

1910 United States Federal Census about Nicola Ciecina

The WWI draft registration card:

I cannot find the 1920, until now, just I found Antonio Cecchini in Columbia Institutions for Deaf and Dumb:

1920 United States Federal Census

Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Marital Status: Single

Filomena surname was Siberto or similar spelling, because she died in 1928:

Genevieve was married at Gabriel Di Giovanni or Di Giovanna; I know that, because in 1925 a daughter died:

Genevieve divorced or was widow of Gabriel Di Giovanni( in USA becoming DiGiovanni the surname) because she remarried in Florida:

Florida Marriage Collection, 1822-1875 and 1927-2001
about Genevieve Digiovanni

County of Marriage: Palm Beach

Source: Florida Department of Health
maybe she was widow, by this record:

Florida Death Index, 1877-1998
about Gabriel Digiovanni
Name: Gabriel Digiovanni
Death Date: Jul 1964
County of Death: Palm Beach
State of Death: Florida
Race: White

I am no pretty sure abt immigration record of Nicola Cecchini ( or maybe Cicchini), because I found a record, in 1902, but he was single; instead your Nicola in 1902 was married and with 1 son( Antonio) and I cannot find the immigration record, also, of Filomena; the her maiden name, most probably is mispelled; and for that the search is hard..;

however I believe that the birthplace of Nicola, it could be Vasto town, Chieti province, because in Washington, District Of Columbia it was also other 2 Cecchini, Frank and Sante, and they coming from Vasto, so maybe related at your Nicola ..

Hi, again me;
this record confirm abt the birthplace: Vasto town!
( I live very close at Vasto and I lived in Vasto for some year also, I love it!)

The right surname spelling is CICCHINI and not Cecchini;

in 1907 a Antonio Cicchini coming from Vasto, joining at Nicola brother in Washington, Washington, District of Columbia:

First Name: Antonio
Last Name: Cicchini
Ethnicity:
Last Place of Residence: Vasto
Date of Arrival: Mar 31, 1907
Age at Arrival: 17y Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Brasile
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0004
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0004

travelling with Giovanni CICCHINI, joining at Luigi brother in Washington, Washington, District of Columbia, same address of Nicola... so seeming that Nicola had almost 3 brothers: Luigi, Antonio and Giovanni..
