Di Biasi and Della Piana

Postby DeliatheCrone » 21 Nov 2010, 14:44

I'm searching for any information on Anna Della Piana, who was married to Vito Di Biasi. They lived in Boston, Massachusetts, and had several children, including: Elda (married Pasche), Italia or Tillie (married William Petto), Peter, Mary (married DiCillo), Eleanora (married DiVidio), Edith (married Johnson), Anne (married Simonelli), Americo and Frank. I have no information on Vito or Anna, and I have a notation that they also had a child named Aniello, but can't verify that. Mary Di Biasi DiCillo was born 1903 and died 2001. Elda was born 1908 and died 1998 in Malden MA. I have nothing for the other children, and would appreciate any assistance you might be able to give me. Most especially, I want to know about Anna Della Piana.

I believe the name Della Piana is from a place east of Rome, called Nocciano, near Pescara.

Aniello was born 30th August 1906, Boston.

Thanks for the information on Aniello, Jamie. However, the woman you found, called Alice, is actually Elisa, my grandmother, who was a Savini and married a Della Piana. Her husband, my grandfather, was Leandro Della Piana, and I've seen records listing his first name as Leanoro and even more outrageous misspellings. The problem is usually a person who speaks only American doing the recording from a person who speaks only Italian. They tended to write down what they thought they heard. My grandmother was never called Anna, and she was never a Di Biasi.

According to the 1910 Census, the first four children were born in Italy...

Leonora, Frank, Edith and Mary.

Vito immigrated in 1902
Anna in 1906, with Frank (Francesco)
Leonora in 1909
Edith and Mary in 1910

These may not be accurate, but they are a start. Maybe we can find the manifests, or naturalization records that will give us a clue to place of birth.
