NYC Marriage Licenses

Postby DJP1812 » 09 Dec 2010, 19:25

Hi All,

I need to order certified Marriage licenses for each grandparents and great grandparents from NY. I am not sure of the specific dates/locations and I want to limit the cost from NYC (by giving them exact information). I'm looking for anything official that can help me know the specifics.

Can anyone help me search for info on the following marriages? Anything would be helpful! Thanks so much!

Great Grandparents:
Michele Paradiso
Grazia Silvestri
Married Date approximation: September 29, 1914
Married Location: New York, NY

Grandparents:
Dominick Paradiso
Veronica Re' (maybe Rey)
Approximate Date: June 11, 1949
Location: Brooklyn, New York

Thanks Maestra.

I was planning on using the record sites to get the certified records. I was just looking for any concrete evidence that my dates and locations are accurate. This way I can give them exact info instead of paying to expand the search.

Thanks for the link!

I don't see the 1914 marriage in the index at all. I tried various spellings of the names. The 1949 indexes are not online.

Thanks so much for searching! I heard it wasn't to uncommon for immigrants to not document in all the correct places when married. I might have to search at churches for the 1914 one.

I am having trouble finding anything on the Re' side of my family.

Do you know any easy way to do that?

Thanks,
Dom

There are so many possible sound variations of the surname Re', I honestly don't know what to tell you. Do you know where in Brooklyn the family was living in 1949, as that may help you locate the correct parish?

Then there is also the problem that the parish may now be obsolete.

where did you find the dates you have for both marriages?

The 1914 Marriage date came location came from my Great Grandfather Naturalization Petition.

At the time of the petition the GGP where living at 204 Hester Street NY, NY.
Other addresses I have for him since his arrival are:
115 Mott Street, NY, NY - From WWI Card
1433 79th Street, Brooklyn, Kings County, NY - WW2 Card
1560 82nd Street, Brooklyn, Kings, NY - WW2 Card and Memory

I think the Mott Street or Hester Street one would be where they got married. The petition for Naturalization was done almost 20 years after supposed marriage date.

The 1949 Date was given to me by my father, so that might be pretty accurate. That was most likely Brooklyn, New York.

You could try searching the surnames on this website. The Brooklyn NY Daily Eagle newspaper has some marriage license info for various years. It's a hit or miss though, so I don't know if you will find anything for your specific ancestors.
