Trying to clear up confusing information

Postby piazza16428 » 20 Dec 2010, 16:37

I was provided the following information a couple months ago and I am trying to clear up the following issue.

The following informationw was taken from the book Le Famiglie Di Vallelunga by Joseph Cipolla published (1972).

Children of Rosolino and Isabella Sanfratello:
- Loreto married Giuseppa Federico 7/19/1868
-Girolamo (b. 2/21/1850 + 1/5/1936) married Teresa Lodato 10/31/1873
- Rosolino + 4/13/1907 married Giuseppa Calà 9/3/1881
- Rosaria + 10/21/1840
- Calogero + 11/19/1844

NOTICE THE DATE THAT GIROLAMO MARRIED TERESA LODATO (1873)

I then received the following information regarding the children of Girolamo and Teresa Lodato...................

From the book Le Famiglie Di Vallelunga by Joseph Cipolla published (1972).
Children of Girolamo Piazza and Teresa Lodato or LoDato
- Cristofaro (+ 12/8/1904) married with Concetta Ciappa 1/23/1875
- Rosolino (b. 7/7/1884 + 1/7/1931) married with Anna Maria Messina 10/7/1906
- Vincenzo (b. 5/26/1887) married with Vincenza La Paglia 9/28/1910. He emigrated in Albenga in 1957
- Salvatore (b. 11/16/1896 + 2/14/1969) married with Rosaria Rizzuto 1/15/1922
- Vincenza married with Antonino Cirrincione 1/7/1912
- Elisabetta married with Salvatore Lo Bue 1/4/1907
- Rosolino + 8/7/1877 age 2 y.
- Rosolino + 1/31/1881 age 3 m.
- Maria + 12/19/1883 age 2 y.
- Luigi + 1/17/1891 age 1 y.

I believe one of the dates that are indicated in bold are incorrect and I am trying to find someone who has access to the book Le Famiglie Di Vallelunga by Joseph Cipolla to verify this information. I just seems impossible for the following to be true and I think something must have been lost during the translation.

Girolamo (b. 2/21/1850 + 1/5/1936) married Teresa Lodato 10/31/1873

Children of Girolamo Piazza and Teresa Lodato or LoDato
- Cristofaro (+ 12/8/1904) married with Concetta Ciappa 1/23/1875

Thanks in advance for any information that you are willing to share and Merry Christmas to everyone and all the best for 2011.

Sam

Ancestry.com has online the civil registrations for the town of Vallelunga Pratamena (Caltanissetta Province) ... I'm checking them for you...

This is the marriage act (Number 43) between Girolamo Piazza and Teresa Lodato, they were married on October 31, 1873 in Vallelunga.
Girolamo Piazza was 23 years old, farmer, born and resident in Vallelunga son of the late Rosolino and of the living Isabella Sanfratello
Teresa Lodato was 17 years old, spinner, born and resident in Vallelunga, daughter of the living Vincenzo and Vincenza La Paglia

Now searching for their first son Cristoforo.... :D

I'm finding some incongruences...

Year 1880 - Birth act Number 318

Rosolino Piazza was born on 20 november 1880 , son of Girolamo Piazza, age 29, farmer and of Rosa Lodato, age 24, spinner.

Found the mistake

This is the death act for cristoforo Piazza, who died on 7 december 1904 in Vallelunga...

Year 1904 - Death Act number: 167

Cristoforo Piazza died on 7 december 1904, he was 55 years old (so born approx on 1849) son of the late Manfredo and of the late Rosalia Lodato, husband of (the living) Concetta Ciappa

so, he wasn't Girolamo's son....

Sam,
I overlooked the dead children you listed:

- Rosolino + 8/7/1877 age 2 y.
- Rosolino + 1/31/1881 age 3 m.
- Maria + 12/19/1883 age 2 y.
- Luigi + 1/17/1891 age 1 y.

the highlited one must have been the Rosolino born on 20 November 1880..

I am not sure how to thank you. You have cleared up some confusing information that has been troubling the family for a number of years. You are the best. I am so thankful and will be letting the family know of the development after I post my thanks. There have always been rumors in the family that branches were related and we could never figure out the link and you have provided the data to confirm it at this time.

One question in your first posting you indicated that "Ancestry.com has online the civil registrations for the town of Vallelunga Pratamena (Caltanissetta Province)" is it possible to get the link to this, thanks.

One more thing does it indicate at all how Cristofaro (d. 12/07/1904) died?

Laura (Pink67)
Was Girolamo married to Teresa Lodato or Rosa Lodato or did she go by both names?

Yopu're very welcome Sam, I'm always happy to help...
To check the italian databases on Ancestry.com:

from the Home page:

http://www.ancestry.com

click on "Browse by location" : Europe

and then "Select Country" : Italy

then click on "View all 18 Italy Birth, Marriage and Death" and you'll see all the databases you can check

Good luck and write here if you need help... :D

no, usually cause of death is not indicated on the death act, you may find something about it on the "Allegati di morte" but for Vallelunga the year 1904 is not present...
